No. 454 73R7388 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dorothy Simmons was accorded a great honor on March 1-2 28, 1993, when the El Tex Temple No. 636, an associated temple of 1-3 Gibraltor Elks Lodge No. 500, recognized her with its "Mother 1-4 Dearest" award; and 1-5 WHEREAS, One of the most prestigious awards given by this 1-6 chapter of the International Benevolent and Protective Order of the 1-7 Elks of the World, the "Mother Dearest" award is given to those 1-8 women who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and loyalty to 1-9 this distinguished organization; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The members of the El Tex Temple include this 1-11 memorable awards ceremony as part of their annual Pre-Mothers Day 1-12 Celebration, which pays tribute to those special women who choose 1-13 to dedicate their lives and service to their families, their 1-14 communities, and their churches; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Ms. Simmons, Vice Daughter Ruler of El Tex Temple 1-16 No. 636, was honored for her exceptional loyalty to the temple; she 1-17 was one of five women honored this year for their outstanding 1-18 contributions to this order; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Today's women must constantly redefine their roles 1-20 in society to meet the changing demands of modern life and to 1-21 fulfill the many diverse responsibilities that are assigned to them 1-22 as mothers, wives, daughters, and citizens; the women selected to 1-23 receive the "Mother Dearest" award are truly deserving of this 1-24 special recognition because they have successfully balanced the 2-1 many challenges of their lives with grace, charm, and good humor, 2-2 and in doing so, they are an inspiration to all who know them; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Dorothy Simmons for receiving the "Mother 2-6 Dearest" award, one of the highest forms of recognition given by 2-7 the El Tex Temple No. 636, and extend to her warmest best wishes 2-8 for many more years of continued success and happiness; and, be it 2-9 further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 forwarded to Ms. Simmons as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
