No. 461 73R7479 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent death of Doyle Chadwick on January 28, 1-2 1993, at the age of 76, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this distinguished and public-spirited 1-4 Texan; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Long Branch in Panola County, 1-6 Mr. Chadwick will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, a 1-7 loving father, a loyal friend, and an upstanding citizen who 1-8 demonstrated an exemplary concern for the well-being of others; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He pursued a successful career as a carpenter with 1-10 the Ethel Corporation in Houston, where he joined the ranks of the 1-11 Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers and was highly regarded by his 1-12 union fellows and colleagues; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Chadwick enjoyed a notable reputation in local 1-14 political circles and was well-known for his active involvement as 1-15 an election judge with the Harris County Democratic Party for more 1-16 than 20 years; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Chadwick was a man of many talents and causes 1-18 who took a keen interest in agricultural issues, capably serving as 1-19 a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau's board of directors for 1-20 the last 13 years and as its president for the last six years; and 1-21 WHEREAS, He tirelessly worked toward the betterment of 1-22 agricultural interests across the state and played an instrumental 1-23 role in Texas Farm Bureau political activities; in addition, when 1-24 South Texas farmers and ranchers were in desperate need of hay, he 2-1 spearheaded distribution efforts, helping to raise contributions 2-2 and arranging for railcar shipment; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Mr. Chadwick was a man of boundless energies who 2-4 shared with the youth of the community his interest in and 2-5 commitment to agricultural concerns, lending his support and 2-6 enthusiastic backing to their many 4-H Club and FFA activities; and 2-7 WHEREAS, A man of great vision, he devoted much of his life 2-8 to the betterment of his community, and though his presence will be 2-9 deeply missed, his unique spirit will surely live on in the hearts 2-10 and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, 2-11 therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Doyle Chadwick and 2-14 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-15 devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley Chadwick; to his daughter, Gene 2-16 Elizabeth Lee; to his son, Doyle James Chadwick; and to the other 2-17 members of his family; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-19 for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of 2-20 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Doyle 2-21 Chadwick.
