                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pride in
    1-2  honoring the ladies of the Magic Circle Republican Women's Club on
    1-3  the occasion of their visit to Austin for their Legislative Day on
    1-4  March 30, 1993; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Established in 1979, this outstanding organization
    1-6  of more than 500 members, including such notable and revered ladies
    1-7  as former first lady Barbara Bush, continues to succeed in
    1-8  educating and motivating women to participate effectively in the
    1-9  political process, thereby fostering a more informed electorate;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The ladies of Magic Circle were eager to join with
   1-12  other organizations in welcoming delegates to the Republican
   1-13  National Convention in August 1992 and provided support in many
   1-14  capacities, including hosting a gathering for the Arizona
   1-15  delegation as well as serving individually as ambassadors to
   1-16  various state delegations and generally promoting Houston as a
   1-17  wonderful place to visit and conduct business; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The patriotic and civic-minded members of this
   1-19  organization value the precious rights that all Americans share and
   1-20  wish to convey their appreciation by encouraging all citizens to
   1-21  register to vote and become an active part of the political
   1-22  process; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, These compassionate ladies have adopted as one of
   1-24  their ongoing community service projects the I Have A Dream
    2-1  program, a nonprofit dropout prevention and college scholarship
    2-2  program that offers hope and encouragement through one-on-one
    2-3  tutoring and mentoring to break the tragic cycle of poverty,
    2-4  welfare, crime, and drugs that faces many of Houston's inner-city
    2-5  children; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, This fine organization's members give generously of
    2-7  their time and talent through thousands of volunteer hours annually
    2-8  to support conservative candidates and causes, and it is indeed
    2-9  fitting that these extraordinary women receive special legislative
   2-10  recognition for their continuing efforts in this regard; now,
   2-11  therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby recognize the exceptional contributions of the
   2-14  Magic Circle Republican Women's Club and commend its members for
   2-15  their fine work on behalf of the  citizens of Houston and the State
   2-16  of Texas; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for the Magic Circle Republican Women's Club as an
   2-19  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
