R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Many of the most elegant and charming women from
1-2 across the state will gather in Grand Prairie on April 1-4, 1993,
1-3 to vie for the title Ms. Texas Senior America; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Hosted by the city of Grand Prairie Parks and
1-5 Recreation Department, this pageant is open to women age 60 and
1-6 older, and contestants will compete in four categories: interview,
1-7 evening gown, talent, and philosophy of life; and
1-8 WHEREAS, The winner of the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant
1-9 will have the honor of representing the Lone Star State in the
1-10 Ms. Senior America Pageant in Nashville, Tennessee, later this
1-11 year; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Unlike traditional beauty pageants, this contest
1-13 emphasizes the achievements, talent, and inner beauty of senior
1-14 women; contestants are encouraged to realize the fullness of their
1-15 life experiences by sharing the benefits of those experiences as
1-16 well as their unique perspectives and positive attitudes with
1-17 others; and
1-18 WHEREAS, By sharing their warmth, wisdom, and positive
1-19 outlook with their fellow Texans, these fine women are dispelling
1-20 the myth that growing older means slowing down; these spirited and
1-21 vivacious women have reached the "Age of Elegance," and their
1-22 knowledge, experience, and wisdom are a valuable resource for
1-23 younger generations; now, therefore, be it
1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-1 Legislature hereby honor all the participants in the Ms. Texas
2-2 Senior America Pageant and extend to them warmest best wishes for
2-3 many more years of success and happiness; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 forwarded to the participants as an expression of high regard by
2-6 the Texas House of Representatives.
