                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Harry N. Ward, Sr., an esteemed resident of Fort
    1-2  Worth, died on February 4, 1993, at the age of 87, and his passing
    1-3  has profoundly saddened his family and many friends throughout the
    1-4  Tarrant County community; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A native of Albany, he lived at various times in his
    1-6  youth in Whitesboro and in Texarkana before moving to Fort Worth in
    1-7  1927, where he established a successful practice as an attorney;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his professional colleagues for
   1-10  his ability and his legal expertise, which he amply demonstrated in
   1-11  his private practice, he also attained the respect and admiration
   1-12  of the larger community by his unwavering dedication to public
   1-13  service during his tenure as an assistant district attorney; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, His involvement in local civic affairs encompassed a
   1-15  broad range of activities to which he brought enthusiasm and energy
   1-16  as well as exceptional leadership ability; a prominent figure in
   1-17  the political arena, he served for a time as chairman of the
   1-18  Tarrant County Democratic Party and could always be counted on to
   1-19  provide unswerving support for party platforms and candidates; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Mr. Ward also played a prominent role in other
   1-21  aspects of social and civic life in the Fort Worth community as a
   1-22  member of the River Crest Country Club, the Colonial Country Club,
   1-23  and the Rotary Club; a graduate of The University of Texas at
   1-24  Austin, he maintained close ties with many of the friends he had
    2-1  made during his collegiate years as a member of the Lambda Chi
    2-2  Alpha fraternity; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Supported in all of his many endeavors by a loving
    2-4  and devoted family, Mr. Ward not only achieved a large measure of
    2-5  success as an attorney, dedicated public servant, and community
    2-6  leader, but won the love and esteem of the countless individuals
    2-7  whose lives he touched throughout the years; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby honor the memory of Harry N. Ward and extend
   2-10  deepest sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife, Anne
   2-11  Scroggle Ward; to his two sons, Harry N. Ward, Jr., and Dr. Robert
   2-12  L. Ward; to his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
   2-13  to the other members of his family; and to all of the many people
   2-14  who have mourned the loss of this fine gentleman; and, be it
   2-15  further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-18  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-19  Harry N. Ward, Sr.
