H.R. No. 470 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Nacogdoches County has contributed greatly to the 1-2 cultural diversity and economic well-being of the State of Texas; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, Located in the heart of the East Texas Piney Woods 1-5 on El Camino Real, where timber and agricultural industries are the 1-6 main strength of the economy, Nacogdoches County contains national 1-7 forests, lakes, rivers, and many other of nature's most beautiful 1-8 attractions, making the area a popular location for tourists, 1-9 hikers, campers, fishermen, hunters, and nature lovers; and 1-10 WHEREAS, It is home to several major industries and many 1-11 small businesses, which have helped to create the high standard of 1-12 living East Texans enjoy; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Nacogdoches, the county seat and the oldest town in 1-14 Texas, has many historic attractions, such as its original brick 1-15 streets in the downtown section, the Old Stone Fort, the Adolphus 1-16 Sterne home, Oak Grove Cemetery, Old North Church, and the Hoya 1-17 house, as well as such modern facilities as the Fredonia Convention 1-18 Center and the Nacogdoches County Exposition Center; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Nacogdoches also has a great institution of higher 1-20 education, Stephen F. Austin State University, and ample reason to 1-21 be proud of its medical facilities and the medical services 1-22 available to residents throughout the Deep East Texas region; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Boasting an ethnically diverse heritage, the people 1-24 of Nacogdoches County, although occasionally displaying East Texas 2-1 stubbornness, are industrious, hardworking, honest, and 2-2 straightforward; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Of particular note in this proud community are the 2-4 dedicated members of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce's 2-5 Leadership Nacogdoches class of 1993: Eddie Arnold, Jane Ann 2-6 Bridges, Danny Everitt, Linda Foshee, Jerral Goff, Fred Green, Jim 2-7 Harrison, Jeannie Hensley, Stacy Jacobs, Susan Kozak, Brent 2-8 Lindsey, Aubrey Manis, Allen Micheletti, Robin Moore, Ed Muller, 2-9 Jeff Rab, Gary Roberts, Patricia Russell, David Smith, Tanya Smith, 2-10 Kathy Strong, and Angela Wiederhold; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Rich in history and tradition, Nacogdoches County is 2-12 a prosperous, forward-looking community fully participating in the 2-13 state's dynamic growth, and it gives the members of this 2-14 legislative body great pleasure to join our fellow citizens in 2-15 saluting this fine Texas community; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-17 Legislature hereby honor Nacogdoches County for its contributions 2-18 to the State of Texas and extend to the members of Leadership 2-19 Nacogdoches best wishes for continued success and happiness in the 2-20 future; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-22 for the members of Leadership Nacogdoches as expressions of high 2-23 regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-24 regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-25 Johnson 2-26 H.R.
