                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Words cannot assuage the deep shock and sorrow that
    1-2  accompanied the tragic death of Deputy Sheriff Larry John Miller,
    1-3  who was slain in the line of duty on January 27, 1992; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A nine-year veteran of the Hood County Sheriff's
    1-5  Department, this outstanding officer exemplified the highest
    1-6  standards of professionalism, inspiring others by his loyalty,
    1-7  dependability, and exemplary conduct; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, During his tenure with the department, Deputy Miller
    1-9  earned the respect and admiration of his associates for his strong
   1-10  sense of duty, a tangible reflection of his deep commitment to the
   1-11  public welfare and his belief that a firm, fair law enforcement
   1-12  system could make a difference in people's lives; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Deputy Miller's willingness to risk his own life to
   1-14  provide protection for others was in keeping with this philosophy
   1-15  and with the personal bravery and self-sacrifice consistent with
   1-16  the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, This greatly respected officer was a man of
   1-18  tremendous integrity and courage whose exemplary record of public
   1-19  service speaks for itself; though his life has been cut tragically
   1-20  short, his memory endures as an inspiration to all those who were
   1-21  privileged to know him and to a new generation of law enforcement
   1-22  officers who choose to follow in this difficult but essential
   1-23  profession; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deputy Larry John
    2-2  Miller of the Hood County Sheriff's Department and extend deepest
    2-3  sympathy to the members of his family:  to his beloved wife, Anna;
    2-4  and to his children, Christopher, Bonnie, and Laura; and to the
    2-5  many other friends and relatives of this esteemed peace officer;
    2-6  and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-8  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
    2-9  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-10  Deputy Larry John Miller.
