R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Gary Tidwell on March 15, 1993, at
1-2 the age of 57, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
1-3 relatives of this fine man; and
1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born in Winfield and pursued
1-5 his education at Kilgore Junior College as a young man; Mr. Tidwell
1-6 moved to Lubbock in 1955 where he gained valuable experience in the
1-7 fast food industry as an employee of Bingo's BBQ; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Within a short time, he opened his own restaurant,
1-9 Gary's Super Dog Drive-In, and went on to develop a well-deserved
1-10 reputation for excellence throughout Texas and New Mexico as the
1-11 owner of Gary's Frozen Foods, Inc., and the popular Gary's Corn
1-12 Dogs, Gary's Bar-B-Que, and Gary's Super Dogs; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Mr. Tidwell was
1-14 a devoted family man who enjoyed a happy and rewarding marriage
1-15 with his beloved wife of 32 years, Yvonne, and who took great pride
1-16 in the achievements of his children, Buddy and Kim; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Tidwell also gave generously of himself as a
1-18 devout member of the First Assembly of God Church, which he served
1-19 as a deacon and Sunday school teacher; and
1-20 WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, Gary Tidwell exemplified
1-21 the highest standards of excellence, dedication, and commitment to
1-22 others; though his presence is gone from us now, the memory of this
1-23 outstanding gentleman will continue to live on in the hearts of
1-24 those whose lives he touched during his years on this earth; now,
2-1 therefore, be it
2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-3 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gary Tidwell and
2-4 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
2-5 Yvonne Tidwell of Lubbock; to his children, Gary D. "Buddy"
2-6 Tidwell, Jr., of Lubbock and Kim Tidwell of Dallas; to his mother,
2-7 Bertie Lee Tidwell of Lubbock; and to his brother and sister, Tony
2-8 Tidwell of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Dolores K. Tatkenhorst of
2-9 Lubbock; and, be it further
2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-13 Gary Tidwell.
