                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Among the newest and most exciting tourist
    1-2  attractions in Texas is The Promise, a live contemporary musical
    1-3  drama that attracts numerous visitors to the beautiful community of
    1-4  Glen Rose each year with its meaningful portrayal of the life and
    1-5  ministries of Jesus Christ; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Performed in the magnificent Texas Amphitheater in
    1-7  the countryside overlooking the river highlands of North Central
    1-8  Texas, the event is popular among residents of the nearby
    1-9  Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area as well as sightseers from
   1-10  throughout the state and nation who have been touched by the beauty
   1-11  of this outstanding production; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Greco-Roman design of the Texas Amphitheater,
   1-13  with its 42-foot-high arches and walls and six-story archway
   1-14  towering over a three-level stage, serves only to enhance the
   1-15  feeling portrayed by the production's set designs, which help to
   1-16  bring the homeland of Jesus Christ to life for members of the
   1-17  audience with its stunning depictions of scenes from the Holy Land;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The set also features a sparkling moat that lies
   1-20  between the audience and the cast of the production, making viewers
   1-21  feel almost as though they are standing on the shore and a part of
   1-22  the events that are unfolding before them; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Since 1989, The Promise has strengthened the tourism
   1-24  industry and served as an important resource for the economy of
    2-1  Glen Rose and Somervell County; all who have given generously of
    2-2  themselves to ensure the success of this fine drama are indeed
    2-3  deserving of special recognition for their continuing contributions
    2-4  in this regard; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby commend Promise Productions, Inc., the cast and
    2-7  crew of The Promise, the staff of the Texas Amphitheater, and local
    2-8  officials for the many significant contributions they have made to
    2-9  benefit tourism in Texas through their support  of this
   2-10  inspirational production; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for this remarkable group as an expression of high regard
   2-13  by the Texas House of Representatives.
