                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, For almost four decades, the Dallas County Council
    1-2  of Republican Women's Clubs has served as an umbrella organization
    1-3  for the numerous Republican Women's clubs in the county, providing
    1-4  its affiliate clubs a means for pursuing closer cooperation and
    1-5  greater effectiveness in carrying out their respective duties and
    1-6  responsibilities; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Founded in 1955, the organization also has worked
    1-8  closely with the Dallas County Republican Party executive
    1-9  committee, various Federated Republican Women's clubs, and other
   1-10  local party organizations to achieve common goals and to promote
   1-11  the principles and policies that unite them under the banner of the
   1-12  Republican Party; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, While its principal aim has been to encourage and
   1-14  facilitate cooperation among its member organizations, the Dallas
   1-15  County Council of Republican Women's Clubs also has pursued its
   1-16  overall objective of promoting the party's platforms and candidates
   1-17  in local, statewide, and national elections by becoming actively
   1-18  involved in programs designed to create a better informed
   1-19  electorate and to apprise elected officials of the interests and
   1-20  concerns of their constituents; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Part of the council's efforts in this regard is its
   1-22  sponsorship and organization of a trip to Austin where council
   1-23  members can enjoy an outstanding opportunity to interact with
   1-24  delegations from other Republican Women's clubs in the state, to
    2-1  observe firsthand the political process, and to visit and share
    2-2  views with elected representatives at the State Capitol; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, In this as in all of their endeavors, the members of
    2-4  the Dallas County Council of Republican Women's Clubs have served
    2-5  as a shining example of civic involvement and have contributed to
    2-6  the continued success of the democratic processes on which our
    2-7  state and nation are founded; the interest and commitment they have
    2-8  demonstrated by becoming involved in the political arena are indeed
    2-9  worthy of special praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby commend the Dallas County Council of Republican
   2-12  Women's Clubs on its longstanding record of community service and
   2-13  participation in local and statewide civic affairs and extend to
   2-14  its members a warm welcome on the occasion of their visit to the
   2-15  State Capitol on April 14, 1993; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for the visiting delegation of this organization as a
   2-18  memento of this occasion and as an expression of high esteem by the
   2-19  Texas House of Representatives.
