                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Helen Foehner, whose 50 years of service as executive director of
    1-3  the West Cameron County Chapter of the American Red Cross (ARC)
    1-4  have earned her the highest esteem of her colleagues and the
    1-5  members of her community; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Since she began her distinguished tenure on April 1,
    1-7  1943, two years after the chapter's reconstitution from the San
    1-8  Benito Chapter of the ARC, this exceptional individual has
    1-9  consistently demonstrated her ability to provide insightful
   1-10  guidance to the organization's staff and increase the group's
   1-11  ability to better meet the needs of countless individuals in times
   1-12  of personal misfortune; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Ms. Foehner has worked tirelessly to maintain the
   1-14  highest possible standards of excellence in the provision of Red
   1-15  Cross services; one measure of her personal courage and dedication
   1-16  has been her steadfastness in manning the Red Cross command post
   1-17  during times of disaster, on many occasions placing herself in
   1-18  great peril from hurricanes, floods, and other natural calamities;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, In recognition of her outstanding efforts to help
   1-21  those in need, the West Cameron County Chapter of the ARC will
   1-22  honor her by proclaiming April 27, 1993, as Helen Foehner Day; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, For half a century, Helen Foehner has served as an
   1-24  inspiration to all who have been privileged to know and work with
    2-1  her, and her knowledge, professionalism, and selfless concern for
    2-2  others are truly deserving of special legislative recognition; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby commend Helen Foehner for her exemplary record
    2-6  of service as executive director of the West Cameron County Chapter
    2-7  of the American Red Cross and extend to her best wishes for
    2-8  continued happiness and success in the years to come; and, be it
    2-9  further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Ms. Foehner as an expression of high regard by the
   2-12  Texas House of Representatives.
