                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The untimely deaths of Kenneth R. and Bonnie
    1-2  Huddleston on February 27, 1993, are a tragic loss to the many
    1-3  friends and relatives of this exceptional couple, and they will be
    1-4  forever remembered for their legacy of service to the ideal of
    1-5  excellence in education in the State of Texas; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Huddleston
    1-7  received his degree in petroleum engineering from the university
    1-8  and remained profoundly devoted to the institution throughout his
    1-9  life; a former member of the Corps of Cadets, he maintained an
   1-10  active voice in campus issues and was elected vice-chairman of the
   1-11  Corps Development Council shortly before his passing; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mr. Huddleston held several key management positions
   1-13  with Pennzoil Exploration and Production Company and served as
   1-14  president of Proven Properties, Inc., until his retirement in 1990;
   1-15  and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Mrs. Huddleston, a graduate of the University of
   1-17  North Texas, was a respected professional as well, having
   1-18  maintained an active career as a schoolteacher for many years;
   1-19  admired by all for her unselfish spirit and zest for life, she
   1-20  loyally championed many worthy causes, and her special gift for
   1-21  teaching was a key element in the success of her students; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Together, the Huddlestons worked faithfully to
   1-23  preserve the traditions of excellence and innovative research so
   1-24  outstanding in the educational history of this state; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Sincere in their desire to encourage quality
    2-2  education, these respected benefactors gave a great deal in support
    2-3  of various programs at Texas A&M University; united in purpose,
    2-4  they contributed funds for the construction of the Sam Houston
    2-5  Sanders Corps of Cadets Center, donated 20 Sul Ross Scholarships to
    2-6  support Corps students, and provided many scholarships for students
    2-7  in the field of petroleum engineering; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, As friends and loved ones mourn their loss, they
    2-9  will surely recall the outstanding wisdom, generosity, and
   2-10  compassion of this cherished couple for many years to come; now,
   2-11  therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the lives of Kenneth R. and
   2-14  Bonnie Huddleston and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of
   2-15  their family:  to Mr. Huddleston's mother, Jewell Dukes Huddleston;
   2-16  to his brothers and sister-in-law, Billy Pete and Flora Huddleston
   2-17  and Gerald K. Huddleston; to his nephews and niece and their
   2-18  families, Peter Duke, Kathy, and Will Huddleston, W. Paul,
   2-19  Dorianne, and Emily Louise Huddleston, and Peter, Lisa, Mitchell,
   2-20  and Jordan Currie; to Mrs. Huddleston's sister, Mary Evelyn
   2-21  Skinner; to her brother, James Ellis Goodman; to her nieces and
   2-22  nephews, Bonnie and Bill Wettengel, Kathy and Denny Anderson, Steve
   2-23  Skinner, and Dick Goodman; and to the many other friends and loved
   2-24  ones of this special couple; and, be it further
   2-25        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-26  for the members of their family and that when the Texas House of
   2-27  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kenneth R.
    3-1  and Bonnie Huddleston.
