                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pride in
    1-2  honoring the ladies of the Bexar County Republican Women's Club on
    1-3  the occasion of their visit to Austin for their Legislative Day on
    1-4  April 14, 1993; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, In September 1920, one month after American women
    1-6  won the right to vote, several of San Antonio's most prominent
    1-7  social activists formed the Republican Women's Club of Bexar
    1-8  County, known today as the Bexar County Republican Women's Club;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Boasting a membership of 600 women during the early
   1-11  years of the club's history, this outstanding organization has
   1-12  played a key role in building support for the ideals, principles,
   1-13  and candidates of the Republican Party for 73 years; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The Bexar County Republican Women's Club strives to
   1-15  increase the effectiveness of women in the political process, to
   1-16  facilitate cooperation among Republican women in Bexar County, and
   1-17  to ensure the success of Republican party candidates on the local,
   1-18  state, and national levels; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Recognizing that the strength of our democratic
   1-20  system depends on active participation and informed decision making
   1-21  by the electorate, this exemplary group also encourages all
   1-22  citizens to register to vote and become involved in the political
   1-23  process; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, The dedication and diligence of these extraordinary
    2-1  women is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; now,
    2-2  therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-4  Legislature hereby recognize the exceptional contributions of the
    2-5  Bexar County Republican Women's Club and commend its members for
    2-6  their fine work on behalf of the citizens of Bexar County and the
    2-7  State of Texas; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-9  prepared for the Bexar County Republican Women's Club as an
   2-10  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
