                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pride in
    1-2  honoring the ladies of the Alamo City Republican Women's Club on
    1-3  the occasion of their visit to Austin for their Legislative Day on
    1-4  April 14, 1993; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Founded 25 years ago by a group of politically
    1-6  minded women who met for informal discussions over coffee, the
    1-7  Alamo City Republican Women's Club has contributed greatly to
    1-8  improving the social and political landscape of San Antonio through
    1-9  the many worthwhile activities of its 185 members; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Recognizing that the strength of our democratic
   1-11  system depends on active participation and informed decision-making
   1-12  by the electorate, this exemplary group encourages all citizens to
   1-13  become an active and effective part of the political process; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Named the top organization in the state by the Texas
   1-15  Federation of Republican Women in 1979, the Alamo City Republican
   1-16  Women's Club has won numerous state and national awards for its
   1-17  voter participation efforts, and its past president, Yvonne
   1-18  Kohutek, was recognized as one of the 1989 "Top Ten Outstanding
   1-19  Women" by the state federation; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The recipient of a local newspaper's prestigious
   1-21  community service award, these Texas women generously devote their
   1-22  time, energy, and financial resources to many local youth programs,
   1-23  such as the CAM, Unicorn Center, Youth Alternatives, and the
   1-24  American Cancer Society's "Camp Discovery"; club members also
    2-1  donate books to local school libraries and award funding to women
    2-2  who intern at the national headquarters in Washington, D.C.; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The members of this distinguished organization work
    2-4  tirelessly to support the ideals, principles, and candidates of the
    2-5  Republican Party, and their political involvement and dedication is
    2-6  indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby recognize the exceptional contributions of the
   2-10  Alamo City Republican Women's Club and commend its members for
   2-11  their fine work in behalf of the citizens of San Antonio and the
   2-12  State of Texas; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for the Alamo City Republican Women's Club as an
   2-15  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
