Bromley of the Dallas 1-2 Police Department was killed in the line of duty on December 11, 1-3 1991, and his untimely death was a tragic loss not only to his 1-4 family and his fellow peace officers, but to the entire community 1-5 as well; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This esteemed officer exemplified in his personal 1-7 and professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, 1-8 integrity, and unwavering dedication, and his commitment to his 1-9 fellow officers, as well as to the community he served, earned him 1-10 the respect of all who knew him; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Throughout his 10 years on the force, Corporal 1-12 Bromley's record was one of meritorious service, loyalty, personal 1-13 bravery, and self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of 1-14 the law enforcement profession; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to this exceptional 1-16 police officer and to all the fine men and women in the law 1-17 enforcement profession who, by their selfless dedication to the 1-18 public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful 1-19 and orderly society; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Seldom recognized, often taken for granted by the 1-21 public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals daily 1-22 risk their lives in order to ensure domestic tranquility and 1-23 protect the lives and property of others; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Corporal Bromley's legacy of heroic dedication and 2-1 self-sacrifice will surely endure and continue to be a source of 2-2 inspiration to those who follow him in this difficult but essential 2-3 profession; though his presence is gone from us now, he will long 2-4 be remembered as a man of honor and integrity by the many people 2-5 who knew and admired him; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Corporal Lawrence 2-8 "Larry" D. Bromley and extend deepest sympathy to the members of 2-9 his family: to his wife, Cynthia; to his parents, Austin and 2-10 Elaine; to his sister, Nancy; and to all of his many friends and 2-11 relatives; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-14 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-15 Corporal Lawrence "Larry" D. Bromley.
