                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, A community's centennial is an occasion for the
    1-2  expression of great civic pride, and thus it is with pride and
    1-3  jubilation that many of Pasadena's fine citizens have traveled to
    1-4  Austin for a special celebration of Pasadena Days at the State
    1-5  Capitol to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of
    1-6  this vibrant and progressive community; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Situated near Houston along Vince's Bayou, the city
    1-8  of Pasadena enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a pleasant and
    1-9  prosperous municipality, affording its residents the congenial
   1-10  atmosphere of a largely residential, family-oriented suburban
   1-11  community along with the economic advantages and cultural amenities
   1-12  that come with its proximity to one of the state's largest and
   1-13  busiest metropolitan areas; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Its name derived from the Spanish word meaning "Land
   1-15  of Flowers" and chosen because of the blooming meadows that dotted
   1-16  the area around Vince's Bayou, Pasadena itself has blossomed and
   1-17  flourished during its first 100 years, experiencing several periods
   1-18  of dramatic growth since its early days as a small rural outpost to
   1-19  become one of the principal cities in the state's largest
   1-20  metropolitan statistical area; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The continued growth and development of this
   1-22  outstanding municipality is largely attributable to a dynamic and
   1-23  industrious citizenry who take great pride in the community and in
   1-24  its many achievements over the years and who also exemplify Texas'
    2-1  finest traditions of gracious hospitality in welcoming one and all
    2-2  to enjoy all the city has to offer; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Making their city an excellent place in which to
    2-4  live by their hard work and spirit of community involvement, the
    2-5  fine citizens of Pasadena also have made a significant contribution
    2-6  to the growth and development of this state, and the commemoration
    2-7  of the city's centennial is indeed a grand occasion and an
    2-8  appropriate opportunity for the members of this body to salute an
    2-9  exceptional Texas community and its outstanding people; now,
   2-10  therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-12  Legislature hereby declare April 12-13, 1993, Pasadena Days at the
   2-13  State Capitol and extend congratulations and best wishes to all its
   2-14  residents as they celebrate 100 years of progress and achievement;
   2-15  and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for the visiting delegation of Pasadena residents as a
   2-18  memento of this noteworthy occasion and an expression of the warm
   2-19  regards of the Texas House of Representatives.
