By: Jones, D. H.R. No. 547 73R8765 PFG-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The death of Sergeant Kenneth D. Fowler of the 1-2 Lubbock Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty on 1-3 June 18, 1992, is a tragic loss to his family, his fellow peace 1-4 officers, and to the entire community; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the courageous men 1-6 and women of the law enforcement profession who by their selfless 1-7 dedication to the public welfare help provide peace and order in 1-8 society; seldom recognized and often taken for granted by the 1-9 public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals risk 1-10 their lives daily to ensure domestic tranquility and to protect the 1-11 lives and property of others; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Throughout his 36 years on the force, Sergeant 1-13 Fowler compiled an outstanding record of meritorious service, 1-14 steadfast loyalty, and exceptional bravery, exemplifying the 1-15 highest ideals of the law enforcement profession; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his fellow officers and his 1-17 many friends in the community, Sergeant Fowler's unwavering 1-18 dedication to duty was a tangible reflection of his belief that a 1-19 firm, fair law enforcement system could make a difference in 1-20 people's lives; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A man of great courage, integrity, and commitment, 1-22 Sergeant Fowler leaves behind a legacy of heroism and 1-23 self-sacrifice, and his memory will continue to be a source of 1-24 inspiration to those who follow in this difficult yet essential 2-1 occupation; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Kenneth D. 2-4 Fowler of the Lubbock Police Department and extend deepest sympathy 2-5 to the members of his family: to his wife, Virginia; to his sons, 2-6 Mark and Read; and to the other members of his family; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-11 Sergeant Kenneth D. Fowler.
