                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Although children are our most precious resource,
    1-2  many children today suffer neglect and abuse at the hands of their
    1-3  own parents and other family members, and the fight against this
    1-4  grave social ill has been hampered by limited financial resources
    1-5  and a shortage of trained personnel; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Established in August 1989, Family Outreach Central,
    1-7  Inc., is helping to bridge that gap in Harris County; this joint
    1-8  project has united the resources of the Texas Department of
    1-9  Protective and Regulatory Services, Harris County Children's
   1-10  Protective Services, and the many unsung community volunteers who
   1-11  give generously of their time and energy in service to others; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, By providing such services as phone counseling,
   1-13  parenting classes, and child care programs, Family Outreach
   1-14  Central, Inc., is helping to break the cycle of child abuse and
   1-15  neglect, and in doing this they are bringing hope and joy into the
   1-16  lives of many troubled families; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Harris County Children's Protective Services
   1-18  casework managers will honor these volunteers at a ceremony on
   1-19  April 26, 1993, and the members of this chamber are proud to join
   1-20  in recognizing these selfless public servants for their outstanding
   1-21  work in preventing child abuse; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-23  Legislature hereby commend the many volunteers working with Family
   1-24  Outreach Central, Inc., for their hard work and dedication and
    2-1  extend to them warmest best wishes for continued success; and, be
    2-2  it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-4  forwarded to Family Outreach Central, Inc., as an expression of
    2-5  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
