H.R. No. 553 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The death of Officer Randy J. Zimmerman of the 1-2 Jacksonville Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty 1-3 on October 2, 1992, is a tragic loss to his family, his fellow 1-4 peace officers, and the entire community; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the fine men and 1-6 women in the law enforcement profession who by their selfless 1-7 dedication to the public welfare help provide peace and order in 1-8 society; seldom recognized and often taken for granted by the 1-9 public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals risk 1-10 their lives daily to ensure domestic tranquility and to protect the 1-11 lives and property of others; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Officer Zimmerman maintained an outstanding career 1-13 of service throughout his nine months on the force; his record was 1-14 one of meritorious service, exceptional bravery, and loyalty 1-15 consistent with the high ideals of the law enforcement profession; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, Leaving a legacy of heroic dedication and 1-18 self-sacrifice, his memory will serve as a source of inspiration 1-19 for those who choose to pursue this difficult yet essential 1-20 profession; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Randy 1-23 J. Zimmerman and extend deepest sympathy to his wife, Peggy; to his 1-24 son, Justin; to his daughter, Terri; to his parents, E. J. and 2-1 Jo Ann; to his sisters, Peggy and Kari; to his brother, Keith; and 2-2 to the many other friends, relatives, and colleagues of this fine 2-3 man; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-5 for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of 2-6 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer 2-7 Randy J.
