H.R. No. 554 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The West Union Baptist Church under the pastoral 1-2 care of the Reverend Donald R. Lacy and the First Baptist Church 1-3 under the pastoral care of Dr. Richard Waters have designated the 1-4 week of April 19 through April 23, 1993, as Evangelistic Emphasis 1-5 Week as a means of calling attention to their churches' fundamental 1-6 reason for existence and of focusing with greater clarity their 1-7 efforts to fulfill their missionary purpose; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Founded on sound Biblical doctrine and dedicated to 1-9 spreading the gospel of the Lord, these Christian communities have 1-10 endeavored with the utmost zeal over the years to propagate the 1-11 faith in accordance with their command to proclaim the good news of 1-12 salvation to the nations of the world; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Constantly nourished in their efforts and in their 1-14 faith by the power of prayer, the two congregations have set aside 1-15 this week as a special time in which to seek spiritual renewal that 1-16 they might go forth again with greater zeal and to reaffirm their 1-17 dedication to evangelization among people everywhere; and 1-18 WHEREAS, This state and this nation have been founded and 1-19 built by individuals and institutions who have had a vision of 1-20 better things to come, a noble goal beyond themselves, and an 1-21 unwavering dedication to an ideal; the West Union Baptist Church 1-22 and the First Baptist Church have truly exemplified this principle 1-23 of faithful adherence to a worthy cause and in so doing have made a 1-24 significant contribution to the betterment of humankind; now, 2-1 therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby commend the West Union Baptist Church and the 2-4 First Baptist Church for their noteworthy dedication in doing the 2-5 work of the Lord and recognize their commitment to spiritual 2-6 renewal in their designation of the week of April 19-23, 1993, as 2-7 Evangelistic Emphasis Week; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-9 for the Reverend Donald R.
