                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of Delwin Rohde on March 8, 1993, at the
    1-2  age of 73, has brought a great loss to his family and to the many
    1-3  friends in his church and community who were privileged to be
    1-4  touched by the warm heart and kind spirit of this fine man; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born in Fayette County on June 1, 1919, Mr. Rohde
    1-6  actively pursued his education as a young man, attending Blinn
    1-7  College, Sam Houston State University, and Massey Real Estate
    1-8  College; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A dedicated civic leader, this dynamic individual
   1-10  gave of himself to many worthy organizations in his community; he
   1-11  was associated with the Texas State Welfare Department, the Brenham
   1-12  Urban Renewal Agency, and served as housing director of the Brazos
   1-13  Valley Development Council; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Mr. Rohde also was a veteran of World War II,
   1-15  achieving the rank of captain before his decorated honorable
   1-16  discharge; remaining loyal in his support of the fine men and women
   1-17  with whom he served, he shared his considerable leadership
   1-18  abilities as the commander of both Buddy Wright Post 48 of the
   1-19  American Legion and James F. Dillon Post 7104 of the Veterans of
   1-20  Foreign Wars; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, This highly regarded gentleman upheld high moral
   1-22  standards for himself and his family as a dedicated member of
   1-23  Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, where he contributed in many
   1-24  ways to the enrichment of the entire congregation; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Delwin Rohde made many
    2-2  significant contributions to the betterment of his community;
    2-3  though he will be greatly missed, his memory will surely live on in
    2-4  the hearts of those who shared his friendship during his years on
    2-5  this earth; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Delwin Rohde and
    2-8  extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family:  to his
    2-9  wife, Ellen Rohde; to his son, Dr. Norris Rohde; to his stepson and
   2-10  stepdaughter-in-law, Glenn Roy and Doris Guettler; to his
   2-11  stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Carol and Will Zbranek; to his
   2-12  brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Ovida Rohde; to his sister
   2-13  and brother-in-law, Edna and Alfred Lange; to his sister-in-law,
   2-14  Agnes Rohde; to his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Ida
   2-15  Mae Wubbenhorst; and to his four step-grandchildren and two
   2-16  step-great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-18  for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of
   2-19  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Delwin
   2-20  Rohde.
