                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On January 24, 1993, the members of St. John's
    1-2  Lutheran Church of Deanville commemorated a significant event in
    1-3  their community's history when they observed the 75th anniversary
    1-4  of the church's cemetery; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The cemetery was established on January 22, 1918,
    1-6  when Clemens Frank Koehler was laid to rest after his years of
    1-7  service on this earth; since that time, this peaceful plot of
    1-8  ground has become the final resting place of more than 270 faithful
    1-9  former members of the congregation as well as many other
   1-10  individuals with special connection to the Deanville community of
   1-11  faith; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Marking the anniversary with a special service of
   1-13  rededication and blessing of this hallowed ground, the congregation
   1-14  also paid tribute to the many faithful members who have gone before
   1-15  them and whose selfless dedication to the work of the Lord laid the
   1-16  foundation for the church's present success; paying their deepest
   1-17  respect to those dearly departed souls, the congregation placed
   1-18  markers on several previously unmarked graves during the memorial
   1-19  service; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Though the rededication was in part an occasion of
   1-21  great solemnity, it also afforded the members of St. John's
   1-22  Lutheran Church an opportunity to give joyful witness to their
   1-23  undying belief in the resurrection and in the promise of eternal
   1-24  life, and a special part of the celebration was a concert of
    2-1  old-time gospel favorites by the Sonshine Gospelaires; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Heirs to a legacy of hard work, dedication, and
    2-3  deep-seated religious traditions, Texans are indeed grateful for
    2-4  the many blessings we share that have been made possible by the
    2-5  generations that have gone before us, and it is indeed appropriate
    2-6  to recognize our kinship with observances befitting that legacy;
    2-7  now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby join the members of St. John's Lutheran Church
   2-10  of Deanville in commemorating the 75th anniversary of the church's
   2-11  cemetery and honor the memory of the many faithful church members
   2-12  who have gone before us to their final reward.
