                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Multi-Ethnic Heritage Foundation will be holding
    1-2  the third annual Cultural Philanthropy Awards on April 25, 1993, at
    1-3  the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Known as the Cup Awards, this popular and successful
    1-5  awards program was created to honor individuals and corporations
    1-6  who have made significant contributions to multi-ethnic visual and
    1-7  performing artists and cultural organizations; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A nonprofit group working creatively to promote
    1-9  better understanding and cooperation between people of different
   1-10  cultures and ethnic backgrounds, the Multi-Ethnic Heritage
   1-11  Foundation is sponsoring the event in conjunction with other
   1-12  members of the community who are committed to the arts and to
   1-13  promoting cultural awareness; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, During this year's awards ceremony, presentations
   1-15  will be made to corporations and individuals in 16 different
   1-16  industries, including such varied fields as retail, banking,
   1-17  consumer goods, and entertainment, and award presentations will be
   1-18  interspersed with performances by talented multi-ethnic artists;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An exciting highlight of the awards program, these
   1-21  performance segments also provide an excellent opportunity for the
   1-22  artists to showcase their talents, celebrate cultural diversity,
   1-23  and encourage an increased commitment to the arts by members of the
   1-24  audience; scheduled performers at past Cup Award shows have
    2-1  included such diverse talent as the Omari African Drummers and the
    2-2  Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, This worthwhile event has brought people from a wide
    2-4  variety of backgrounds and professions together in a mutual effort
    2-5  to support multi-ethnic visual and performing artists and cultural
    2-6  organizations; the commitment and creative inspiration of its many
    2-7  participants and sponsors are having a positive impact on the arts
    2-8  community and are indeed deserving of special legislative
    2-9  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby commend the Multi-Ethnic Heritage Foundation and
   2-12  other participating sponsors of the Cultural Philanthropy Awards
   2-13  for their outstanding contributions to the arts and their
   2-14  unwavering commitment to furthering cultural understanding in our
   2-15  state; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for the Multi-Ethnic Heritage Foundation as an expression
   2-18  of high esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
