H.R. No. 602 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control 1-2 has found that a majority of Dallas-area children age two and under 1-3 are not properly immunized; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The study determined that 66 percent of children 1-5 under the age of two in Dallas County were not fully protected 1-6 against nine deadly but preventable diseases; and 1-7 WHEREAS, In light of this alarming situation, concerned 1-8 citizens have organized the Dallas Area Infant Immunization 1-9 Campaign--a community-based program to increase parents' awareness 1-10 of the immunization status of their children, particularly those in 1-11 high-risk areas, and to provide barrier-free immunization services; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, The hard work of these dedicated organizers of and 1-14 participants in this worthwhile campaign, which begins April 24, 1-15 may prove to be a lifesaver for many of Texas' youngest citizens 1-16 and is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; now, 1-17 therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby commend the efforts of the organizers of and 1-20 participants in the Dallas Area Infant Immunization Campaign; and, 1-21 be it further 1-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-23 prepared for this public-spirited organization as an expression of 1-24 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-1 H.R.
