                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, In order to promote multilateral cooperation and to
    1-2  contribute to amicable relations between Texas and the Republic of
    1-3  Kazakhstan, representatives of the Kazakhstan Friendship and
    1-4  Business Partnership Alliance meet with their Texas counterparts
    1-5  two to four times each year to discuss issues of mutual importance,
    1-6  and the Texas House of Representatives is pleased to welcome the
    1-7  Kazakhstan delegation on the occasion of their visit to the
    1-8  Capitol; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The people of Kazakhstan have worked hard to
   1-10  overcome difficulties stemming from the dissolution of the Soviet
   1-11  Union, and they have carefully nurtured their mineral- and
   1-12  agricultural-based economy in an effort to integrate competitively
   1-13  into the greater world economic system; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Embracing the prospects of increased productivity
   1-15  and profit, Kazakhstan is actively developing its principal
   1-16  commodities of oil, lead, copper, and other minerals; in support of
   1-17  the recent strides made by this resilient country, business and
   1-18  commercial leaders from Texas, desiring to encourage the
   1-19  opportunity that exists for a unique social and economic
   1-20  relationship with this dynamic nation, extol the noble changes
   1-21  taking place throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The visiting delegation of high-ranking authorities
   1-23  is led by Gani Kasimov, who serves as chairman of the International
   1-24  Affairs Office of the President of Kazakhstan; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Through the laudable efforts of the members of the
    2-2  Kazakhstan Friendship and Business Partnership Alliance, a climate
    2-3  favorable to increased trade and a heightened awareness of shared
    2-4  social and cultural values is emerging between Texas and
    2-5  Kazakhstan, and this mutually beneficial relationship will surely
    2-6  continue to strengthen as our two lands form lasting ties of
    2-7  friendship and cultural appreciation; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby welcome the members of the Kazakhstan Friendship
   2-10  and Business Partnership Alliance on the occasion of their visit to
   2-11  the Capitol and extend to the members of this outstanding group
   2-12  warmest best wishes for a memorable stay in Texas; and, be it
   2-13  further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-15  for the members of the alliance as an expression of high regard by
   2-16  the Texas House of Representatives.
