No. 626 73R9703 SRD-F R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Lola Mae Beck Brown of Christoval will celebrate her 1-2 90th birthday on May 20, 1993, and to her family and many delighted 1-3 friends, this event promises to be a truly joyous and memorable 1-4 occasion; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of San Angelo, Mrs. Brown was born to Emil 1-6 Frederick Beck and Therese Rosa Arhelger Beck, two highly esteemed 1-7 members of the local community; her father opened the first butcher 1-8 shop in the city during the early 1890s and continued to operate it 1-9 until his retirement, and her family resided in a beautiful red 1-10 brick home that is today listed with both the Texas Historical 1-11 Commission and the National Historical Register; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The eighth of 10 children, this accomplished woman 1-13 was the first of the family to receive a high school diploma, 1-14 graduating from Central High School in San Angelo in 1921; much 1-15 admired for her diligence and dedication, she worked in her 1-16 brother's bakery until her marriage to R. Wilbur Brown, Jr., in 1-17 1924; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Enjoying a richly rewarding marriage for 32 years, 1-19 this happy couple were blessed with the birth of two fine sons, 1-20 Winfree Leroy Brown and Daniel Fred Brown, and were successful in 1-21 the ranching business; following the death of Mr. Brown in 1956, 1-22 Mrs. Brown managed two ranches; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Inspiring all who know her with her vivacity and 1-24 enthusiasm, this extraordinary Texan resides at and actively 2-1 manages the family ranch, Pecan Farm, in Christoval; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Brown takes immense pride in 2-3 her family, which includes two children, nine grandchildren, and 2-4 nine great-grandchildren, and she has been a source of great 2-5 strength and joy to those around her throughout her full and 2-6 generous life; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Lola Mae Beck Brown on the occasion 2-9 of her 90th birthday and extend warmest best wishes for many more 2-10 years of continued happiness; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
