H.R. No. 637
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Bill Clanton for his myriad contributions to the citizens of
    1-3  Midland as an outstanding public servant and dedicated civic
    1-4  leader; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The city secretary of Midland for the past nine
    1-6  years, Mr. Clanton was a self-employed businessman for seven years
    1-7  and worked for Midland College for three years before being
    1-8  appointed to his current post on February 1, 1984; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A man of trusted judgment who works well with
   1-10  people, Mr. Clanton acts as the city's records management officer
   1-11  and as the public information officer for the city and county in
   1-12  the event of an area emergency; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, This fine gentleman works above and beyond the
   1-14  duties of his office to provide the citizens of his community with
   1-15  the excellent service they deserve, and he recently has begun a
   1-16  project to help local residents recapture the past by organizing
   1-17  the city's extensive collection of old newspaper clippings,
   1-18  photographs, and plaques given to former council members and mayors
   1-19  into an archival collection that will be placed on public display
   1-20  later this year; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In addition to his professional responsibilities,
   1-22  Mr. Clanton is a respected leader in the Republican Party who was
   1-23  named the recipient of the prestigious Republican Presidential
   1-24  Legion of Merit Award in June 1992 for his patriotism, commitment,
    2-1  and integrity; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, This highly regarded gentleman has made many
    2-3  significant contributions to the betterment of his community and he
    2-4  is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition for his
    2-5  continuing contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby commend Bill Clanton for his outstanding
    2-8  contributions to his community and state; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-10  prepared for Mr. Clanton as an expression of high regard by the
   2-11  Texas House of Representatives.
