H.R. No. 639
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The late Cesar Chavez was the founder of America's
    1-2  first successful farm labor union, and throughout his life
    1-3  exemplified the highest principles of nonviolent social action and
    1-4  personal sacrifice for the cause of civil rights and economic
    1-5  justice; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The death of Mr. Chavez on April 22, 1993, has been
    1-7  mourned by millions of Americans inspired by his courage and
    1-8  dedication; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The Mexican-American Legislative Caucus has
   1-10  requested the use of the house chamber on May 6, 1993, for the
   1-11  purpose of a memorial service paying tribute to the life and work
   1-12  of Cesar Chavez; now, therefore, be it
   1-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-14  Legislature hereby grant permission, in accordance with house rules
   1-15  and the policies of the Committee on House Administration, for the
   1-16  Mexican-American Legislative Caucus to use the chamber of the house
   1-17  of representatives for a memorial service for Cesar Chavez from
   1-18  8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on May 6, 1993, if the house is not in
   1-19  session.
