H.R. No. 640
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Jimmie Carpenter will leave his post as
    1-2  superintendent of China Spring Independent School District on April
    1-3  30, 1993, thus bringing to a close his long and illustrious career
    1-4  with that district; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Mr. Carpenter began his career in education as a
    1-6  teacher at University High School before joining China Spring
    1-7  I.S.D.; he served the school system for several years as a
    1-8  principal before accepting the position of superintendent 10 years
    1-9  ago; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Throughout the past decade, this distinguished
   1-11  educator has set rigorous standards of academic excellence for the
   1-12  district while always keeping the needs of his students uppermost
   1-13  in his mind; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, With integrity and visionary leadership, he has
   1-15  guided the district through a constantly changing stream of
   1-16  educational mandates, guidelines, and teaching philosophies as
   1-17  Texas struggles to create a stronger, more innovative system of
   1-18  public education; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Texans may take heart that this experienced and
   1-20  accomplished gentleman is not leaving this noble pursuit, for he
   1-21  has accepted the position as superintendent of the Midlothian
   1-22  Independent School District, and the residents of that fine
   1-23  community will surely benefit from his wisdom and expertise; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Jimmie Carpenter has dedicated much of his life to
    2-1  the field of education, and in doing so he has enriched the lives
    2-2  of countless young Texans; by helping to shape the leaders of
    2-3  tomorrow, Mr. Carpenter ensures that the future of Texas is in very
    2-4  capable hands, and this unique contribution is truly worthy of
    2-5  special recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby commend Jimmie Carpenter for his many years of
    2-8  outstanding service to the China Spring Independent School District
    2-9  and extend to him warmest best wishes for many more years of
   2-10  continued success; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for Jimmie Carpenter as an expression of high regard by
   2-13  the Texas House of Representatives.
