H.R. No. 642
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The death of Bellmead Police Officer James
    1-2  W. Mitchell on April 15, 1993, at the age of 56, has brought a
    1-3  great loss to the many friends and relatives of this distinguished
    1-4  Central Texas law enforcement officer; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born in Lorena on July 25, 1936, he was graduated
    1-6  from La Vega High School and was employed for 30 years by the
    1-7  General Tire and Rubber Company, where he earned the respect and
    1-8  admiration of his peers for his utmost dedication, hard work, and
    1-9  professionalism; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, He became a full-time officer with the Bellmead
   1-11  Police Department in 1989 after spending two years as a reserve
   1-12  officer and capably served the citizens of his community until his
   1-13  death; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Officer Mitchell will be remembered as a patriotic
   1-15  and highly principled individual who served his country for 36
   1-16  years as a member of the United States Army National Guard; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, He also was a deeply religious man who received his
   1-18  spiritual strength as a devoted member of Northside Church of
   1-19  Christ; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Officer Mitchell was a man of great integrity who
   1-21  dedicated much of his life to serving the needs of his community;
   1-22  though his special presence will be missed by all who knew him, his
   1-23  spirit will surely live on in the hearts and minds of the many
   1-24  people whose lives were touched by this exceptional gentleman; now,
    2-1  therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-3  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer James
    2-4  W. Mitchell and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
    2-5  family:  to his devoted wife, Barbara Mitchell; to his three
    2-6  daughters, Debra Dodd, Trisha Gestes, and Melissa Gestes; to his
    2-7  son, James W. Mitchell, Jr.; to his mother, Ada L. Mitchell; to his
    2-8  sister, Lillian Bancale; and to the other members of his family;
    2-9  and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-11  for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of
   2-12  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer
   2-13  James W. Mitchell.
