                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Dr. J. L. LaManna has been named a recipient of the
    1-2  prestigious Oak Cliff Samaritan Award for 1993 by Dallas Baptist
    1-3  University for his outstanding Christian service to his community,
    1-4  and this special recognition is indeed well deserved; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This respected physician is a longtime resident of
    1-6  Dallas who has been in general practice in the community since
    1-7  1951; in his position as chairman of the board of Dallas Southwest
    1-8  Osteopathic Physicians since 1985, Dr. LaManna has led the
    1-9  organization in donating more than $4.5 million to worthy causes in
   1-10  the Oak Cliff and West Dallas areas; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Dr. LaManna is the past chief of staff of Dallas
   1-12  Family Hospital and he has shared his valuable insight and
   1-13  expertise as a member of the hospital's executive and credentials
   1-14  committees and on the board of governors of the hospital as well;
   1-15  and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A noted authority in his field, he holds
   1-17  professional memberships in the American Osteopathic Association,
   1-18  the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the Dallas County Board
   1-19  of Health, and the Dallas County Medical Society; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, This admirable gentleman's outstanding professional
   1-21  and civic accomplishments have earned numerous accolades, including
   1-22  selection as the Oak Cliff Tribune Citizen of the Year and as the
   1-23  recipient of the Oak Cliff Lions Club Humanitarian Award and the
    2-1  Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine's highest award, The Founders
    2-2  Medal; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Through his support of many worthwhile causes, Dr.
    2-4  LaManna has demonstrated exceptional commitment to his profession
    2-5  and community and it is indeed appropriate that he be honored on
    2-6  the occasion of his most recent and well-deserved achievement; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. J. L. LaManna on his receipt of
   2-10  a 1993 Oak Cliff Samaritan Award and commend him on his many
   2-11  significant contributions to the betterment of his community; and,
   2-12  be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for Dr.  LaManna as an expression of high regard by the
   2-15  Texas House of Representatives.
