H.R. No. 697 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Garland Independent School District (GISD) 1-2 Capitol Scholars program promotes academic excellence and 1-3 challenges students to expand their horizons of knowledge beyond 1-4 the classroom; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This worthy program allows fine young minds the 1-6 unique opportunity to observe the governmental process and meet 1-7 many of those individuals who participate in it; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Having earned this singular distinction through 1-9 superior achievement in a competitive essay contest, this year's 1-10 1993 GISD Capitol Scholars are Heather Morris and Billy Burleson of 1-11 Naaman Forest High School, Christine Lord and Matthew Boyd of South 1-12 Garland High School, Shana Bratcher and Come Derouaux of Lakeview 1-13 Centennial High School, Kerin Markoff and Robert Wrestler of 1-14 Garland High School, and Jennifer Eilers and Kyong Kong of North 1-15 Garland High School; and 1-16 WHEREAS, These exemplary students will be welcomed to the 1-17 Capitol by State Representative Fred Hill, sponsor of the GISD 1-18 Capitol Scholars program during the current legislative session; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, Fostering an interest in and understanding of the 1-21 governmental process for the leaders of tomorrow is at the heart of 1-22 the GISD Capitol Scholars program, and it is indeed appropriate 1-23 that this valuable project be given special legislative 1-24 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby welcome the GISD Capitol Scholars and 2-3 congratulate them on their outstanding achievements; and, be it 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-6 for the 1993 GISD Capitol Scholars as an expression of high regard 2-7 by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-8 by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-9 Hill 2-10 H.R.
