                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  an outstanding educator, David T. Pullias, as the recipient of the
    1-3  1993 Distinguished Alumni Citation from the Abilene Christian
    1-4  University Alumni Board; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A 1960 graduate of Abilene Christian University with
    1-6  a bachelor of science degree in industrial education, Dr. Pullias
    1-7  earned master's and doctoral degrees in education from the
    1-8  University of North Texas, and he has been honored in the past with
    1-9  Outstanding Alumni awards from the industrial technology
   1-10  departments of both universities; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Dr. Pullias honed his educational skills during 11
   1-12  rewarding years as a junior high and high school industrial
   1-13  technology teacher and, during this period, he also enjoyed
   1-14  coaching, before entering the field of educational administration;
   1-15  and
   1-16        WHEREAS, In his current position as the coordinating director
   1-17  of technology and occupational education for the Richardson
   1-18  Independent School District (RISD), Dr. Pullias has provided
   1-19  innovative leadership to this burgeoning district of more than
   1-20  30,000 students throughout his fine tenure, enabling the district
   1-21  to better educate its students as to the rapid changes being made
   1-22  in today's modern workplace; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, As chairman of the RISD Technology Task Force, Dr.
   1-24  Pullias successfully developed and is presently implementing the
    2-1  district's long-range plan for instructional technology and he also
    2-2  has provided valuable guidance as the coordinator for the
    2-3  Richardson School District High Tech Task Force, a team of industry
    2-4  representatives that serves as an advisory committee for the
    2-5  district's technology education program; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, In addition, he is a noted authority in his field
    2-7  who has served on the board of directors of the Texas Alliance for
    2-8  Science, Technology, and Mathematics Education, has authored many
    2-9  professional publications, and is a popular presenter at workshops
   2-10  and conferences; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, Recognized with a number of well-deserved awards
   2-12  throughout the years, Dr. Pullias received the Man of the Year
   2-13  Award from the Texas Council of Industrial Technology Supervisors
   2-14  in 1986 and 1990, was honored with an Outstanding Leadership Award
   2-15  from the North Texas Technology Education Association in 1987, and
   2-16  received another prestigious award from Abilene Christian
   2-17  University this year for his distinguished service in the field of
   2-18  education; and
   2-19        WHEREAS, During a remarkable career that has spanned more
   2-20  than three decades, David T. Pullias has presided over years of
   2-21  exciting progress in the area of technology education and he has
   2-22  helped to prepare generations of Texans for skilled jobs in today's
   2-23  economy; a man of rare vision and talent, he is indeed deserving of
   2-24  special legislative recognition on the occasion of his latest
   2-25  accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
   2-26        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-27  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. David T. Pullias on his receipt
    3-1  of the 1993 Abilene Christian University Distinguished Alumni
    3-2  Citation and extend sincere best wishes to him for continued
    3-3  success in the years to come; and, be it further
    3-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-5  prepared for Dr. Pullias as an expression of high regard by the
    3-6  Texas House of Representatives.
