H.R. No. 722
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sealy
    1-2  commemorated a momentous occasion in the congregation's history
    1-3  recently when they marked the church's 105th anniversary with
    1-4  prayer, song, and fellowship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Church members celebrated with an outdoor program
    1-6  that paid tribute to the church's past while encouraging members to
    1-7  look to the future; the opening prayer was led by the Reverend
    1-8  Peter Conaty, and those in attendance were moved by an inspiring
    1-9  bagpipe rendition of the hymn "Amazing Grace"; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Parishioners and guests were treated to a recitation
   1-11  of the long and distinguished history of the church in a
   1-12  presentation that also extended special recognition to those
   1-13  individuals who have belonged to the congregation for more than 50
   1-14  years; providing a warm and personal link to much of the church's
   1-15  past were two members of this select group, Irma Hackbarth
   1-16  Datweiler and Winnie Hackbarth, who shared their memories with many
   1-17  of the church's younger members during the festivities; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The highlight of the event was the dedication of a
   1-19  historical marker detailing the church's unique place in Texas
   1-20  history, and after this memorable ceremony, church members enjoyed
   1-21  refreshments at a reception in the parish hall; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, For more than a century, St. John's Episcopal Church
   1-23  has served as a spiritual haven to the people of Sealy, offering
   1-24  guidance and comfort through trying times; the longevity of this
    2-1  exceptional house of worship is a testament to the unwavering faith
    2-2  and devotion of its congregation over many years, and the
    2-3  community's abiding commitment to the spirit of Christian
    2-4  fellowship is truly worthy of highest praise and recognition; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby commemorate the 105th anniversary of St. John's
    2-8  Episcopal Church and extend to the members of the congregation
    2-9  warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success and
   2-10  happiness; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  forwarded to St.  John's Episcopal Church as an expression of high
   2-13  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
