No. 727 73R11199 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas Agricultural 1-3 Extension Service for 85 years of providing experience-based 1-4 education to youngsters throughout the Lone Star State; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This admirable program, which seeks to provide a 1-6 learning experience for the whole child, including head, heart, 1-7 hands, and health, helps young Texans to acquire knowledge, develop 1-8 life skills, and form attitudes to enable them to become 1-9 self-directed, productive, and contributing members of our society; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, Its 500,000 urban, suburban, and rural members, 1-12 ranging in age from 5 to 19, hail from diverse ethnic and 1-13 socioeconomic backgrounds and truly represent a cross-section of 1-14 the state; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The program undoubtedly could not have achieved the 1-16 success that it has today were it not for the service of its more 1-17 than 65,000 volunteers, who have given generously of their time, 1-18 talents, energies, and resources to the youth of Texas; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, the 4-H program has 1-20 developed positive role models for countless Texans and through its 1-21 innovative and inspiring programs continues to build character and 1-22 to instill the values that have made our state strong and great; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby designate May 24, 1993, as 4-H Day in Texas and 2-2 commend the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas Agricultural 2-3 Extension Service and the many men and women who have made the 2-4 program a success.
