                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Troy Dorsey has achieved undisputed supremacy in the
    1-2  sport of kick-boxing by attaining the title of world champion; and
    1-3        WHEREAS, This outstanding athlete devoted much of his
    1-4  youthful time and energy to the study of martial arts and by the
    1-5  age of 10 was competing in this difficult and demanding sport; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, After graduation from Mansfield High School in 1981,
    1-7  Mr. Dorsey relocated to Mesquite and applied his considerable
    1-8  talents to the establishment of a karate school where he could
    1-9  teach those who shared his passion for this unique discipline; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Determined to push his abilities to the limit,
   1-11  Mr. Dorsey pursued a professional career in two sports, and his
   1-12  tireless efforts were rewarded with world championships in both
   1-13  kick-boxing and traditional boxing, and he is the only athlete to
   1-14  have worn championship belts in both sports at the same time; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, This remarkable individual is as compassionate
   1-16  outside the ring as he is competitive inside it, working closely
   1-17  with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Leukemia Foundation,
   1-18  and Johnathon's Place, a facility for drug-exposed infants; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, he has been supported
   1-20  in all his endeavors by his wife, Leslie, also a talented martial
   1-21  artist, and by his daughter, Kendra; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Troy Dorsey has achieved outstanding success in the
   1-23  sport of kick-boxing, combining exceptional physical skill and
   1-24  strength with the mental and emotional discipline necessary to
    2-1  compete successfully at the highest level, and his notable
    2-2  accomplishments truly merit special legislative recognition; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby honor Troy Dorsey on attaining the title of
    2-6  world champion in the sport of kick-boxing and extend to him best
    2-7  wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-9  prepared for Troy Dorsey as an expression of high regard by the
   2-10  Texas House of Representatives.
