                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, At a traditional Eagle Scout Court of Honor on May
    1-2  20, 1993, David William Brann of Scout Troop 113 will receive
    1-3  well-deserved recognition for his meritorious achievements in
    1-4  scouting when he is awarded the coveted silver insignia denoting
    1-5  his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Active in scouting for several years and steadily
    1-7  working his way up through the ranks, this exceptional young man
    1-8  has amply proven his worthiness of this great honor by exemplifying
    1-9  scouting's highest ideals and persevering in the pursuit of his
   1-10  goals with noteworthy dedication; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, In addition to earning numerous merit badges by
   1-12  demonstrating his knowledge and mastery of skills in a wide variety
   1-13  of fields, he has served his fellow scouts in Troop 113 as
   1-14  quartermaster, scribe, and senior patrol leader as well as in other
   1-15  positions of responsibility, thereby demonstrating the superior
   1-16  leadership ability that is a requisite characteristic of all Eagle
   1-17  Scouts; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Recognized by his fellow scouts as a natural leader,
   1-19  Eagle Scout Brann has worked to develop his potential in this
   1-20  regard by undergoing junior leadership training and currently
   1-21  serves as captain of a scout group that will attend the Boy Scout
   1-22  National High Adventure Sea Base in Florida; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, In this capacity, Eagle Scout Brann undoubtedly will
   1-24  continue the record of outstanding achievement that has
    2-1  characterized his participation in summer camp programs each of the
    2-2  past five years and that has earned him recognition as a member of
    2-3  the prestigious Order of the Arrow; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Diligently applying the habits and values developed
    2-5  through his participation in scouting activities, he has further
    2-6  distinguished himself and excelled in other areas of endeavor at
    2-7  school and in the community; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, A junior at the Science Academy of South Texas, he
    2-9  has been active in extracurricular activities as an officer in the
   2-10  Pan American Student Forum at the school and as a member of the
   2-11  state Science Olympiad team; he also has competed in the statewide
   2-12  Texas Alliance of Minorities in Engineering competition, finishing
   2-13  among the top 10 in both the pre-calculus and physics divisions;
   2-14  and
   2-15        WHEREAS, Talented, dedicated, and responsible, Eagle Scout
   2-16  Brann has been a source of great pride to his parents, Dr. Tim and
   2-17  Betty Brann, and an inspiration to his fellow scouts in Troop 113,
   2-18  and his achievements in scouting are indeed worthy of the highest
   2-19  praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-21  Legislature hereby congratulate David William Brann on his
   2-22  impressive achievement in attaining scouting's highest honor and
   2-23  earning the right to wear the silver insignia signifying his
   2-24  acceptance into the elite ranks of the Eagle Scouts; and, be it
   2-25  further
   2-26        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-27  prepared for Eagle Scout Brann as an expression of high esteem by
    3-1  the Texas House of Representatives.
