                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, A delegation of nine outstanding Australian leaders
    1-2  representing a broad spectrum of political beliefs will visit the
    1-3  Capitol on May 20, 1993, bringing with them a spirit of good will,
    1-4  camaraderie, and a strong desire to further the cultural and
    1-5  political harmony that has historically united these two great
    1-6  nations; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, With cultures seeded by the conquests of the British
    1-8  Empire, the United States and Australia share a common ancestry,
    1-9  deriving a great deal of their contemporary social values from
   1-10  European sources; since World War II, these two countries have
   1-11  enjoyed an amicable relationship based on mutual trust and common
   1-12  ideals and have fought side by side in every major world conflict
   1-13  of this century; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The citizens of the Lone Star State are sincerely
   1-15  honored to host these dignified ambassadors of friendship and hope
   1-16  that their visit will be both productive and enjoyable as existing
   1-17  bonds of fraternity are strengthened and preserved for years to
   1-18  come; now, therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-20  Legislature hereby extend a hearty welcome to the members of this
   1-21  notable group, which includes Kerry Chikarovski, the New South
   1-22  Wales minister for consumer affairs and assistant minister for
   1-23  education; Jane Seaborn, the communications coordinator for the
   1-24  Federal Secretariat; Gerard Wheeler, research officer with Senator
    2-1  Bronwyn Bishop; Peter Batchelor, member of the Victoria Parliament;
    2-2  Terry Connolly, member of the Legislative Assembly and attorney
    2-3  general for the Australian Capital Territory Government; Linda
    2-4  Hornsey, senior advisor to the leader of the opposition for
    2-5  Tasmania; Elizabeth Stoneman, federal treasurer of the Young
    2-6  Nationals Party; Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, member of the Executive
    2-7  Campaign Committee for New South Wales; and Julie McKinnon, general
    2-8  manager of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Division;
    2-9  and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for these special visitors from the majestic "land down
   2-12  under" as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
   2-13  Representatives.
