                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to join
    1-2  with the citizens of Dallas in honoring LeTourneau University on
    1-3  the momentous occasion of the dedication of the university's new
    1-4  facilities in the Data General and LeTourneau Building on May 27,
    1-5  1993; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Founded in 1946 by prominent industrialist and
    1-7  Christian leader R. G. LeTourneau, this acclaimed private
    1-8  university provides its students with outstanding educational
    1-9  opportunities in the liberal arts, engineering, and aviation;
   1-10  offering degrees in 26 wide-ranging fields, LeTourneau University
   1-11  has earned well-deserved recognition as one of our nation's
   1-12  up-and-coming universities; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The Longview-based university has experienced rapid
   1-14  growth in recent years with the opening of additional sites in
   1-15  Dallas and Tyler that offer special degree programs for adult
   1-16  professionals; currently, 700 students are enrolled in Dallas's
   1-17  adult education program; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, These programs have been enormously successful, and
   1-19  the new facilities in Dallas will double the campus's existing
   1-20  space to better accommodate the needs of its rapidly growing
   1-21  student population; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, In November 1992, the university realized another
   1-23  important milestone in its rich history with the establishment of a
   1-24  master of business administration program that currently comprises
    2-1  72 students; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Since its founding, LeTourneau University has
    2-3  greatly enhanced the education of countless Texans, helping to
    2-4  shape tomorrow's leaders with pride and determination; a shining
    2-5  example of excellence in education, the university is indeed
    2-6  deserving of legislative recognition on this special day; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby congratulate the administration, faculty, staff,
   2-10  and students of LeTourneau University on the occasion of the
   2-11  dedication of the school's new facilities; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for prominent display at LeTourneau University as an
   2-14  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
