H.R. No. 758 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The ordainment of Don Randolph Caggins on Sunday, 1-2 May 23, 1993, marks a high point of an extraordinary man's 1-3 illustrious career as an attorney, teacher, and church leader; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Pastor Caggins has accepted the call to the Gospel 1-5 Ministry and has been the spiritual teacher at Pine Oak "The 1-6 Cornerstone" Baptist Church of Houston, Texas, since February of 1-7 this year; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Pastor Caggins' interest and dedication to church 1-9 activities have been evident since his ordainment as deacon at age 1-10 29 in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, his participation in 1-11 the founding of the First Metropolitan Baptist Church in 1986, and 1-12 his service at Pine Oak as deacon, superintendent of the Sunday 1-13 school, and teacher in the adult Bible study class; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This distinguished individual, at 42 years of age, 1-15 is also the senior partner at Caggins, Hartsfield & Ogletree, a law 1-16 firm that traces its beginning to 1975, and his excellent 1-17 reputation in his 16 years as a litigator has led to his election 1-18 as board member to the prestigious Houston Trial Lawyers 1-19 Association; and 1-20 WHEREAS, His hard work and commitment to the Houston 1-21 community have been recognized by many civic associations, and he 1-22 has been awarded the "Excellence in Achievement" Award by the 1-23 United Negro College Fund; and 2-1 WHEREAS, His service and dedication to his church, 2-2 profession, and community have brought pride and joy to his wife, 2-3 Ruth, and his children, Elva, Don Jr., and Myles; now, therefore, 2-4 be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Don Randolph Caggins, on the special 2-7 occasion of his ordainment as pastor and extend to him sincere best 2-8 wishes for success in the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Pastor Caggins as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives. 2-12 Texas House of Representatives. 2-13 Thompson of Harris 2-14 H.R.
