                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, For more than 70 years, the J. Edelstein Furniture
    1-2  Company has provided residents of the Rio Grande Valley with
    1-3  quality home furnishings and exceptional customer service, and
    1-4  today these efforts are being continued by Jo Ann Braun, the
    1-5  granddaughter of store founder Jacob Edelstein; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Ms. Braun and her husband, Mike, are the third
    1-7  generation to run this family-owned and -operated furniture store,
    1-8  which has earned a distinguished reputation throughout South Texas
    1-9  for its high standards of product quality and customer assistance;
   1-10  "la Muebleria de Jacobo," as the store is known, has been an
   1-11  established and valued member of the Rio Grande Valley business
   1-12  community, and Ms. Braun has endeavored to give back to the people
   1-13  who have supported her family's business throughout the past seven
   1-14  decades; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A member of the board of directors of both the
   1-16  Hidalgo County Child Welfare Services and Mujeres Unidas, this
   1-17  dedicated civic leader also has contributed her time and talents to
   1-18  the McAllen International Museum, Leadership McAllen, and the
   1-19  Executive Advisory Council for Texas Commerce Bank-McAllen; she has
   1-20  been an active member of the Junior League for 12 years, and she
   1-21  recently served as chairman of the Development Committee for the
   1-22  Junior League cookbook; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Ms. Braun prepared to serve in her family's business
   1-24  while she was still a student at The University of Texas at Austin,
    2-1  where she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree; she applied her
    2-2  education in the field of interior decorating before assuming her
    2-3  current role in her family's store; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, In upholding the values and business philosophy of
    2-5  her grandfather, Ms. Braun has proven herself to be a worthy
    2-6  successor to the J. Edelstein Furniture Company; her public service
    2-7  efforts have had a tremendous positive impact on her community, and
    2-8  she is truly deserving of highest praise and recognition; now,
    2-9  therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby honor Jo Ann Braun for continuing the fine
   2-12  tradition of fair business dealing and community service
   2-13  established by her grandfather and extend to her warmest best
   2-14  wishes for many more years of continued success; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-16  prepared for Ms. Braun as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-17  House of Representatives.
