R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Brent Alan Hollyfield on his outstanding achievement in attaining
1-3 the lofty rank of Eagle Scout; and
1-4 WHEREAS, The requirements to become an Eagle Scout are
1-5 difficult and are met by only a select few of the many who join the
1-6 scouting movement; by successfully fulfilling those requirements
1-7 Brent Hollyfield has achieved a truly remarkable feat and has
1-8 proven himself worthy of wearing the prestigious silver eagle badge
1-9 emblematic of the highest honor in scouting; and
1-10 WHEREAS, This exceptional young man has been active in the
1-11 scouting program for many years, having joined a Cub Scout troop at
1-12 an early age, and has earned several noteworthy awards, including
1-13 the Arrow of Light award, the World Conservation award, and the God
1-14 and Family award; he also has advanced steadily through the ranks
1-15 to gain acceptance in such illustrious organizations as the
1-16 exclusive Order of the Arrow; and
1-17 WHEREAS, In compiling this record of achievement, he not only
1-18 has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the high ideals of
1-19 scouting but also has exhibited the superior leadership ability,
1-20 perseverance in the pursuit of his goals, and selfless spirit of
1-21 community involvement that are the hallmark of every Eagle Scout;
1-22 and
1-23 WHEREAS, He has been a valuable member of his scout troop and
1-24 has been an enthusiastic participant in many of the troop's
2-1 community service activities; as an Eagle Scout candidate he
2-2 displayed both commendable initiative and a sense of civic
2-3 responsibility by undertaking and successfully completing a service
2-4 project that will provide a lasting benefit to the community; and
2-5 WHEREAS, His noteworthy record of achievement in scouting is
2-6 matched by the equally impressive list of accomplishments that have
2-7 characterized his involvement at school and in the community, where
2-8 he has applied the habits and values developed through his
2-9 participation in the Boy Scouts of America to distinguish himself
2-10 in all of his endeavors; and
2-11 WHEREAS, This accomplished young man has shown remarkable
2-12 proficiency in a wide array of activities outside of scouting; he
2-13 is an all-around athlete, playing on the school's soccer, football,
2-14 and basketball teams, is active in numerous extracurricular
2-15 activities on campus, works as a lifeguard at a neighborhood pool,
2-16 and still finds time to give generously of his time and energy to
2-17 organizations at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where he is a
2-18 devout member; and
2-19 WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of older brothers, Shawn
2-20 and Chad, both of whom were exemplary scouts before him, Eagle
2-21 Scout Hollyfield has been a source of great pride to his parents,
2-22 Wayne and Sherry Hollyfield, and an inspiration to his fellow
2-23 scouts, and his achievements in scouting have rightfully earned him
2-24 the highest praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
2-25 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-26 Legislature hereby congratulate Brent Alan Hollyfield on his
2-27 noteworthy accomplishment in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and
3-1 earning the right to wear the silver insignia symbolic of his
3-2 supreme achievement as a member of the Boy Scouts of America; and,
3-3 be it further
3-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3-5 prepared for Eagle Scout Hollyfield as an expression of high esteem
3-6 by the Texas House of Representatives.
