H.R. No. 800 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Live Oak Elementary School, of the Round Rock 1-2 Independent School District, recently earned national renown when 1-3 it was selected to the Elementary Blue Ribbon Schools Recognition 1-4 Program for 1991-1992 by the United States Department of Education; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Now in its 11th year, the Blue Ribbon program 1-7 recognizes schools that have made significant progress toward 1-8 national education goals by preparing students for responsible 1-9 citizenship, productive employment, and a lifetime of learning; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Live Oak was one of 20 elementary schools in Texas 1-11 to receive this prestigious award, and along with 185 public 1-12 schools representing 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto 1-13 Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Holland, was recognized as a 1-14 "National School of Excellence" at the program's White House 1-15 ceremonies; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Competing schools were evaluated by a panel of 1-17 principals and teachers who then made recommendations to the United 1-18 States secretary of education; the panel was joined by 1-19 representatives of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics 1-20 and the National Council for History Education, who assisted in 1-21 identifying schools with exceptional programs in those areas; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The dedication and commitment of principal Marla 1-23 McGhee and the school's many superb educators and administrators 1-24 have helped Live Oak Elementary School to excel in its mission to 2-1 prepare young Texans to become productive, forward-thinking members 2-2 of our society, and it is indeed appropriate that the tireless 2-3 efforts of these dedicated individuals be recognized on the 2-4 occasion of this noteworthy accomplishment; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor Live Oak Elementary School on the occasion 2-7 of its recognition by the United States Department of Education as 2-8 an Elementary Blue Ribbon School and commend the many dedicated and 2-9 caring individuals who have made the school an outstanding academic 2-10 institution; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for prominent display at Live Oak Elementary School as an 2-13 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-14 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-15 Krusee 2-16 H.R.
