                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Aldine High School chapter of the Health
    1-2  Occupations Students of America (HOSA) recently received
    1-3  well-deserved recognition for its outstanding achievement in
    1-4  helping build public awareness about one of the pressing
    1-5  health-related problems facing Americans today when the chapter won
    1-6  the first place prize at the regional and state levels of the
    1-7  National Competitive Events Program sponsored by the parent HOSA
    1-8  organization; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Focusing on a particularly distressing problem in
   1-10  our society, the student members of the Aldine High School HOSA
   1-11  chapter developed a life-size board game called Community Awareness
   1-12  Project Against Child Abuse, the aim of which is to educate the
   1-13  public about this problem and help people recognize, stem, and
   1-14  prevent occurrences of physical, emotional, and psychological
   1-15  violence against our community's most precious resource, our
   1-16  children; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, In developing their prize-winning entry for the
   1-18  regional and state competitions, these Aldine High School students
   1-19  epitomized the ideals promoted by HOSA, Inc., a nonprofit
   1-20  educational organization for students preparing for health careers;
   1-21  and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Operating under the motto "the Hands of HOSA Mold
   1-23  the Health of Tomorrow," the organization seeks to ensure and
   1-24  enhance the delivery of compassionate quality health care for the
    2-1  citizens of tomorrow by providing opportunities for the acquisition
    2-2  of knowledge of health issues and the development of leadership
    2-3  skills by students preparing for careers in the field of health
    2-4  care today; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, While they have performed a valuable public service
    2-6  in focusing attention on a pervasive social ill that can be greatly
    2-7  alleviated through increased education, the Aldine High School HOSA
    2-8  members also set an outstanding example for other students
    2-9  preparing for careers in health care and assured the people of
   2-10  Texas that their future health care needs will undoubtedly be in
   2-11  truly capable hands, and their efforts in this regard truly merit
   2-12  special praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby congratulate the student members of the Aldine
   2-15  High School chapter of HOSA, Inc., on their superlative
   2-16  accomplishments in winning the first place prize in regional and
   2-17  state competitions and extend to them best wishes for continued
   2-18  success at the HOSA National Competitive Events Program in June;
   2-19  and, be it further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-21  prepared for each of these students as an expression of high esteem
   2-22  by the Texas House of Representatives.
