                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes special
    1-2  pleasure in honoring Ms. Sylvia Bolling, founder and president of
    1-3  Aldine Youth Organization United To Help (Y.O.U.T.H.), for her
    1-4  outstanding contributions to the community of Aldine and the State
    1-5  of Texas; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, In April 1990, Ms. Bolling founded the nonprofit
    1-7  organization to provide positive educational, vocational, social,
    1-8  and recreational activities for at-risk children and teenagers;
    1-9  since that time, membership has grown to include more than 250
   1-10  parents and youths, and Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. has touched the lives of
   1-11  many economically disadvantaged families and youngsters; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, This exceptional group provides numerous activities
   1-13  for neighborhood children and teenagers, including field trips,
   1-14  classes, tutoring sessions, GED courses, service projects, social
   1-15  gatherings, vocational programs, and family, community, and
   1-16  multicultural activities; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of Ms. Bolling, Aldine
   1-18  Y.O.U.T.H. has garnered numerous awards and was the featured
   1-19  organization at Peace Fest '92; its 35-member Sign-Language Choir
   1-20  and dance troupe, known as S.T.A.R.S., have performed at the
   1-21  Republican National Convention and were the opening act for the
   1-22  Texas Special Olympics for two consecutive years; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Ms. Bolling received the 1992 Jefferson Award in
   1-24  recognition of her exemplary achievements in community service, and
    2-1  in 1991 she was featured in an issue of Woman's Day magazine; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Known to all for her warmth, compassion, and
    2-3  commitment to improving the lives of those around her, this
    2-4  remarkable Texan looks forward to bringing the Y.O.U.T.H. program
    2-5  to other Harris County communities, and her outstanding
    2-6  accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
    2-7  recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby commend Sylvia Bolling for her exceptional
   2-10  achievements as founder and president of Aldine Y.O.U.T.H.; and, be
   2-11  it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for Ms. Bolling as an expression of high esteem by the
   2-14  Texas House of Representatives.
