                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Successfully defending a championship is a difficult
    1-2  and demanding task for any athlete, and adding a third consecutive
    1-3  title is a truly remarkable feat that is rarely achieved except by
    1-4  the most exceptional athlete, but Kori Sosnowy of Yoe High School
    1-5  has attained that impressive distinction by winning the 1993
    1-6  University Interscholastic League Class 3A girls' singles tennis
    1-7  crown; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Having defeated Stephanie Berry of Kaufman High
    1-9  School in the quarterfinals of the state tournament, and D'Ann
   1-10  Eilers of Fredericksburg High School in the semifinals, both
   1-11  straight set victories, this exemplary young athlete took the court
   1-12  against longtime rival, Tanya Cornejo of Jourdanton High School,
   1-13  who had unsuccessfully competed against the defending champion in
   1-14  two previous state tournaments; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Facing a determined and talented opponent,
   1-16  Ms. Sosnowy would not be denied, fighting back from match point
   1-17  against her in the second set with a magnificent display of tennis
   1-18  to win the thrilling three-set contest and claim her third
   1-19  consecutive Class 3A tennis title; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Ms. Sosnowy's considerable athletic skills have been
   1-21  honed under the superb tutelage of coach Pam Green, whose tireless
   1-22  efforts in that regard have greatly contributed to her star
   1-23  player's success; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman has been supported in
    2-1  all her athletic endeavors by her parents, LaGayle and John Sosnowy
    2-2  of Cameron; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Possessed of exceptional tennis skills and the heart
    2-4  of a true champion, Kori Sosnowy exemplifies the unquenchable
    2-5  competitive spirit that fires all great athletes, and her
    2-6  outstanding success in the sport of tennis is truly worthy of
    2-7  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby honor Kori Sosnowy for her remarkable
   2-10  achievement in winning the 1993 Class 3A girls' singles tennis
   2-11  title, her third consecutive championship, and extend to her best
   2-12  wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for Kori Sosnowy as an expression of high regard by the
   2-15  Texas House of Representatives.
