Gaddis is retiring from his position 1-2 with the Houston Independent School District, drawing to a close a 1-3 long and rewarding career in campus policing that has spanned more 1-4 than two decades and won him the hearts of countless school 1-5 children; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born in Center, Texas, this exemplary patriot 1-7 answered his country's call, serving with distinction in Japan as a 1-8 member of the Air Force from 1953 to 1958; and 1-9 WHEREAS, After his military service, this outstanding 1-10 gentleman pursued a variety of careers, but ultimately was drawn by 1-11 his love of children and law enforcement to campus policing, and 1-12 since 1971 has enjoyed an enduring association with students and 1-13 faculty at Charles F. Hartman Middle School; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Determined to provide the safest possible learning 1-15 environment for the children in his care, Mr. Gaddis was a dynamic 1-16 and innovative force in his field, maintaining the highest possible 1-17 levels of integrity, professionalism, and concern throughout his 1-18 exemplary career; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In addition to ensuring the health and safety of 1-20 students and school personnel, this concerned and caring individual 1-21 annually organized the Charles F. Hartman Middle School talent 1-22 show, the proceeds of which contributed to the acquisition of 1-23 much-needed equipment, and he also provided valuable guidance to 1-24 students by conducting classes on security and self-discipline 2-1 during off-school hours; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family as well as his profession, 2-3 Mr. Gaddis has shared a lifetime of mutual devotion with his wife 2-4 of 33 years, Helen Hall, and the couple have been blessed with five 2-5 fine children: Jo Ann, Cassandra, Deborah, Lee, Jr., and Michael; 2-6 and 2-7 WHEREAS, Throughout his more than two decades of service to 2-8 the Houston Independent School District, Lee A. Gaddis has been an 2-9 inspirational figure to all those who have witnessed his tireless 2-10 efforts in behalf of school safety, and as he begins his 2-11 well-deserved retirement, he can indeed look back with tremendous 2-12 pride and satisfaction on his exceptional career; now, therefore, 2-13 be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby commend Officer Lee A. Gaddis on his remarkable 2-16 contributions to school safety and extend to him sincere best 2-17 wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for Mr. Gaddis as an expression of high regard by the 2-20 Texas House of Representatives.
