R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Ingrid Marie Williams has tirelessly devoted her
1-2 numerous talents and boundless energy to the field of public
1-3 service; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born August 13, 1971, to Ernest and Beatrice
1-5 Williams, this Houston native consistently has demonstrated a
1-6 desire to excel in all of her many endeavors, and her determination
1-7 in this regard was rewarded when she was graduated from Forest
1-8 Brook High School with honors in 1989; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Currently pursuing a degree in political science at
1-10 the University of Houston, this exceptional individual has
1-11 maintained her exemplary record of academic achievement while
1-12 actively participating in other worthy activities as a member of
1-13 the Alpha Phi Omega coed service fraternity and the Harris County
1-14 Democratic Party; she also founded the Margarite Ross Barnett
1-15 Political Science Association and is president of Sigma Gamma Rho
1-16 Sorority; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Extraordinarily active in community affairs, this
1-18 dynamic young person devotes much of her precious free time
1-19 volunteering as a soup kitchen worker, a tutor at Grimes Elementary
1-20 School, and an alumnus mentor at Forest Brook High School; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Among the many prestigious honors garnered by
1-22 Ms. Williams are the 1989 Young Professionals of Houston Award,
1-23 recognition as the 1992 most spirited and dedicated member of Alpha
1-24 Phi Omega coed service fraternity, and designation as 1992
2-1 Outstanding Student Leader at the University of Houston; and
2-2 WHEREAS, Ms. Williams also has gained experience and insight
2-3 into the political process, serving as a valued staff member for
2-4 United States Congressman Michael Andrews and Texas State
2-5 Representative Henry Cuellar; and
2-6 WHEREAS, Ingrid Marie Williams has demonstrated a truly
2-7 remarkable level of commitment to public service, and her
2-8 significant achievements in that regard indeed merit special
2-9 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-11 Legislature hereby honor Ingrid Marie Williams for her
2-12 inspirational accomplishments and extend to her best wishes for
2-13 continued success in the future; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15 prepared for Ingrid Marie Williams as an expression of high regard
2-16 by the Texas House of Representatives.
