                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, For half a century the Melrose Civic Club has served
    1-2  Houston residents with its exemplary dedication to community
    1-3  service and its longstanding record of involvement in civic
    1-4  activities; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Founded on May 12, 1944, with the goal of developing
    1-6  civic pride, instilling a sense of common purpose throughout the
    1-7  Houston community, and enhancing the quality of life for area
    1-8  residents, the club has adhered steadfastly to the principles that
    1-9  were the basis of its creation; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Offering an opportunity to work for the betterment
   1-11  of the community, it has attracted some of the most dynamic and
   1-12  civic-minded community leaders in the area, and today 170 members
   1-13  are pledged to continue the club's proud tradition of selfless
   1-14  citizenship and to promote goodwill and fellowship; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting that the members of this
   1-16  legislative body join with the many Houston residents who have
   1-17  benefitted from the club's dedication to community service in
   1-18  saluting this fine organization and expressing sincere appreciation
   1-19  for its many contributions over the years; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby honor the Melrose Civic Club of Houston on the
   1-22  occasion of its 50th anniversary and commend all of its members,
   1-23  past and present, who have made it a highly respected part of the
   1-24  community; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for the members of the Melrose Civic Club as an expression
    2-3  of high esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
