H.R. No. 877 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Varying cultures and ethnic groups constitute and 1-2 contribute to the complex social, civic, and cultural fiber that is 1-3 so unique to this great state, and among those groups is the 1-4 Hispanic community in the State of Texas; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Gilberto May, Jr., a leading Mexican American 1-6 businessman in the city of Dallas, three years ago began his 1-7 venture as co-owner of the Phillips-May Corporation, a 1-8 minority-owned firm in the Dallas metroplex area; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Gilberto May's contributions to the construction 1-10 industry include the award-winning American Craft Museum in New 1-11 York City, a major collaborative piece of fine craftsmanship, 1-12 bringing together the masterful skills of craftsmen from around the 1-13 United States of America for such a monumental project; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Gilberto May's contributions also include the 1-15 construction of the building for the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of 1-16 Commerce, the largest and most expensive building of its kind in 1-17 Texas housing a chamber of commerce; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby commend Gilberto May, Jr., for his outstanding 1-20 accomplishments in the construction industry and for his 1-21 contributions as a leading figure in the business community in the 1-22 Dallas metroplex area; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared as an expression of high esteem by the Texas House of 2-2 Representatives. 2-3 Representatives. 2-4 Alonzo 2-5 H.R.
